In this episode, I'm excited to share the latest progress on our two-house development project. We've almost completed the foundations for the second house and are now ready for the concrete pour. Additionally, we are installing the insulation in the first house. Let's take a closer look at the advancements made so far in this exciting development journey.
Completing the Second House Foundations
In this phase of the project, we've successfully put in the drainage system, hardcore, sand blinding, and damp proof membrane for the second house's foundations. The drainage system is crucial for ensuring proper wastewater management, and it's exciting to see it all come together.
Inspecting the Drainage Setup
As we take a closer look at the drainage setup, we can see the pop-ups for the drainage system. These pop-ups are positioned to manage the wastewater from the downstairs bathrooms. The downpipes from the upstairs are strategically connected to ensure efficient water flow.
Infilling and Sand Blinding
To complete the foundations, we infill the areas around the drainage with a mixture of sand and cement. This process ensures that the walls remain stable even after exposure to rain and moisture. The sand blinding will be added on top of the infill, creating a firm foundation for the construction.
Concrete Pour for the First House
In the first house, we are now ready for the concrete pour. This crucial step will complete the foundations for this part of the development. It's an exciting moment as we see the culmination of careful planning and hard work.
Preparing for the Second House Insulation
With the first house's concrete pour underway, our focus shifts to the second house. Next week, we'll begin the installation of insulation and reinforcement. As we prepare for this phase, we're also ensuring that the damp proof membrane is in place to protect the house from moisture.
Anticipating the Arrival of the Timber Frame Kit
On Monday next week, we'll experience another milestone as the first timber frame kit arrives. This event marks a significant step forward in the construction process. I'm looking forward to seeing the house gradually take shape with the installation of the timber frame.
