Why Look at Housing Rental History?

Before we look forward we should look back.

Why is this important?

Well I am sure you have heard the expression history repeats itself and while we cannot predict the future we can learn from the past and protect ourselves from the future by doing certain things today.

The biggest challenge today comes from regulation not just for the property industry but all industries. If you want to stay in the property industry and prosper then you need to adapt to this changing world.

As I record this in November 2017 we heard the announcement that SSE and Npower are setting up a new retail company in response to changes in their world.  This illustrates how two companies in one industry are responding to the onslaught of government regulation.

I will return later to the reasons they have done this and more importantly the lessons we in the property industry can learn from them.

For now, let’s look at the last 100 years of the UK property rental history.
